Westglow’s Guide to Preparing for Fall

Westglow Resort & Spa - Alistair Burke (2)

We’ve noticed a morning chill in the air and leaves are slowly starting to change their hues. While days still climb to balmy highs and those of us living off the mountain are dwelling in sweltering heat, the calendar and nighttime lows do not lie. Fall is coming.
Many of us thrive in sweater weather and pumpkin season. It’s hard not to love such a brilliant array of colors, sunshine, and fun loving activities. However, before you jump into tailgating, apple orchards, and harvesting take some time for a seasonal wellbeing checklist.

1. Win the Battle Against Allergies: Detoxification Body Wrap and Lymphatic Stimulation Massage
Seasonal allergies can easily spoil what would otherwise be a perfect time of year. Few things ruin a hay ride or trip to a county fair faster than constant sneezing and congestion. Westglow’s Detoxification Body Wrap and Lymphatic Stimulation Massage is a natural and relaxing way to help boost the immune system and rid the body of toxins, which in turn will help ease the burden of fall allergies. 2. Nourish Your Skin with a Hydrating Moisturizer
Fall brings crisp air, less humidity, and stronger breezes. While the weather trend is popular for many people, it can be drying and harsh for our skin. We suggest trading your summertime moisturizer for a richer, fall option. Dr. Hauschka’s Rose Day Cream Light is a great moisturizing, protecting, and transitional product for the months between summer and winter. It’s readily available in our retail shop and used in many of our facial services as a calming and hydrating moisturizer.

3. Enjoy the Sunshine While it Lasts
Daylight Savings Time ends in almost two months. Leading up to November 6th there are weeks of sunshine and abundant fall foliage. We encourage our guests to make the most of the changing seasons by beginning each day of their visit with our guided hikes. The days are getting shorter and sunshine cannot be underrated as a tool to help improve our moods and emotional outlook, so make the most of sun-filled days while they’re still around.

Winter at Westglow

You’ll often hear winter described as a time when the Earth goes to sleep after a long year of sun and greenery. While there is an amount of tranquility in that imagery, winter at Westglow is anything but asleep.

Unless it’s simply too cold for fingers and toes, our days begin with Westglow’s daily guided hike. A unique winter hiking experience guarantees brisk rejuvenation and peaceful forest reflections. With less people around than in the warmer months, our hikers are more likely to see families of deer and other wildlife running around the quiet trails.

Back at Westglow there’s hot coffee and soothing warm ginger tea waiting for all guests. Complete the perfect winter scene by sipping either beverage by the windows in your room or curled up in our Relaxation Lounge. More likely than not, there will be snowflakes to watch.

We know that people begin working towards their summer figures as soon as the new year begins and our fitness classes certainly do not attest to winter’s sleepy stereotype. We offer personal training sessions year round and our daily fitness schedules include cycling, fitball, yoga, and water aerobics.

Meals at Westglow during the winter months are no less inventive than their warm season counterparts. In fact, our chefs excel at taking unique advantage of High Country winter ingredients and traditional dishes. Click here to view our creative and indulgent menus.

To help guests take full advantage of the winter season, we are offering a variety of winter midweek specials. Click here to view them or call today to book your overnight stay or Day Spa Package at discounted rates.
