Menu Tasting

It’s almost newsletter time at Westglow! But, before we can unveil all the new happenings around the property, there are several behind the scenes details that must be completed.

One of the more exciting details is the upcoming fall and winter menu and we just finished the tasting process. A new menu release is always preceded by a three-night menu tasting that grades each new dish by presentation, taste, and composition. Tastings are a chance for the chefs at Rowland’s Restaurant to show off their creativity and convey their seasonal inspirations. The autumn menus will highlight seasonal comfort food. Fall and winter are known for their hearty dishes and Rowland’s has brought a lot of that flavor to the table for this new menu.

We would personally suggest the Taleggio Bisque, Crispy Prosciutto Wrapped Hump Mountain Trout, and Pumpkin Beggar’s Purses as an excellent introduction to the new menu. The trout entrée is locally sourced and its prosciutto wrap adds a hearty, seasonal flavor. With thyme ice cream and candied thyme, the Pumpkin Beggar’s Purses are a quintessential autumn dessert. Finally, the Taleggio Bisque might just end up on our recipes page. The new menu will be released Monday October, 24th and we hope to see you dining at Rowland’s soon!

Pumpkin Inspired Spa Services

Fall is here and you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t love this season. The transition from heat and humidity to cool and crisp weather is a welcome change and draws many of us outdoors to bask in the season’s full autumn splendor. However, that change can wreak havoc on our skin.

Luckily, Westglow has introduced some new fall services that promise to save us from the season’s drying and irritating effects. As an added bonus, they’re all pumpkin themed! Pumpkin is an up-and-coming skincare ingredient as it is rich in enzymes that help dissolve dry skin cells. Obviously, there is no ingredient more seasonally appropriate.

Our Pumpkin Spice Pedicure is an assured way to rescue anyone who may suffer from dry or cracked feet. First, a pumpkin fizzy bomb foot bath softens and moisturizes feet, while the following hydrating sugar scrubs helps nourish healthy skin and scrub away dry skin cells. Finally, pumpkin soufflé body butter gives skin a protecting and hydrating boost.

The Pumpkin Exfoliating Peel is a softening treatment that eliminates impurities by removing dead skin cells. Combining pure whipped pumpkin, pineapple extract, honey, and green tea, this treatment is the last word in seasonal and nourishing skincare.

Finally, our Pumpkin Collagen Mask is a fall twist on a classic mask. Our collagen treatments have become a staple at Westglow and this pumpkin addition is a fun bonus for anyone looking to get their autumn fix! The mask is high in antioxidants and nutrients that are perfect for all skin types.

We hope we’ll see you enjoying everything the season has to offer at Westglow soon! Click here to learn more.

Blue Skies, Orange Pumpkins, Red Leaves, and Yellow Mums

Fall officially began yesterday and today’s weather could not be more fitting. Bright blue skies and 75 degree weather are dominant over a landscape of yellow mums and changing leaves. Westglow is moving through its own seasonal transition and we’re excited to settle down into the glory of autumn.
Our summer flowers were fantastic this past season. The Westglow flowerbeds have been bursting with bright colors and lighter pastels for several months now, but next week we’ll move on to the rich jewel tones of mums and pansies. Dark reds, plums, and yellows will welcome guests at our entrance, follow them alongside our driveway, and welcome them at our doors.
And of course, fall would not be fall without the ever-popular pumpkin. This seasonal mascot will be scattered throughout the property and may even make its way into our spa services and upcoming fall menu. Stay tuned! No one does autumn quite like Westglow and we have quite a few surprises up our sleeves.
