Steve joined Westglow in 2006 as General Manager after serving as the principal architect for the restoration and renovation of the resort. Prior to joining Westglow, Steve had a successful career as an architect in Charlotte and Greensboro. Steve oversees the daily operations of Westglow and coordinates all of the facilities related projects on the property.   A North Carolina native, Steve studied Accounting at Guilford College before pursuing undergraduate and professional degrees in Architecture at the University of North Carolina.  Steve serves on the Board of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce and An Appalachian Summer Festival.   Steve designed Westglow’s residential development, Westglow Village, and currently resides there.

Jennifer, a South Carolina native, has been with Westglow since 1999. She began her career as a front desk attendant and breakfast server and was promoted to Guest Services Director in the Spring of 2000, overseeing all front desk staff, day and overnight reservations, as well as spa scheduling. In 2006, a new department was created under her direction, taking on a dual role as Weddings and Special Events Coordinator. From 2008-2011, Jennifer served as President of ACES (The Association of Consultants and Event Services), a group of special event and wedding professionals from the High Country. During her presidency, the first annual High Country Wedding Expo was held in 2010, proving to be a popular wedding show in the Boone and Blowing Rock areas for subsequent years. In 2009, Jennifer was appointed to the Blowing Rock Leadership Challenge Class, recognizing outstanding leadership skills, teamwork, and community vision.

Wendy has been with Westglow since 1999. She started her Westglow career as a spa attendant while attending school to be a massage therapist. She quickly proved to be an asset and received promotions that eventually led to her position as Spa Director. Over the years she has led her team to multiple accolades that included her award as Favorite Spa Director by SpaFinder in 2011. Wendy has been an ISPA member and attended multiple conferences and educational opportunities over the years. Wendy deeply enjoys her chosen career and finds it profoundly rewarding. She enjoys leading her staff to create an environment that provides the ultimate relaxing and rejuvenating environment for all guests by combining an unparalleled level of service with a comfortable, family-like atmosphere.

Olivia joined Westglow in 2013 as a Spa Attendant at our Life Enrichment Center. She quickly proved to be an invaluable asset to Westglow and her experience at our spa helped her develop extensive knowledge about our services, property procedures, company organization, and customer relations. As Marketing Director, she oversees promotional, advertising, and marketing materials for Westglow.  Olivia authors the Westglow newsletter and our blog. Additionally, she coordinates marketing efforts with Relais & Châteaux. Olivia has lived in the High Country area for several years and maintains professional relationships throughout the community.

Gary E. Brown

Gary joined Rowland’s in 2013 as Assistant Manager and was promoted to Manager in 2014. A Florida native, Gary is a Certified Sommelier and has over 20 years of food and beverage experience. Gary’s true passion is wine and since his arrival at Rowland’s has expanded our wine list to include Saxum, Dusky Goose, Ovid, Casanova di Neri, Super Tuscan by Il Borro (a sister Relais & Châteaux property), and the much coveted Dom Perignon. Gary manages a staff of servers and can be found most evenings greeting guests and ensuring the dining experience at Rowland’s is truly memorable.

Micheal Armes

Micheal is a North Carolina native with twenty five years of culinary experience ranging from Thomas Keller’s French Laundry to Woodland’s in Charleston, S.C., a former Relais & Chateaux property. Micheal worked in coastal South Carolina and Georgia for fifteen years, gaining experience under several James Beard nominees and nationally recognized chefs. Nine years ago, Micheal relocated to the High Country with his wife Julie and daughter Josephine. He has worked as sous chef at both Artisanal at Diamond Creek and most recently at Hound Ears Golf Club. Micheal’s focus is refined Appalachian cuisine and sustainable food practices. He has been an avid forager for most of his culinary career and commonly uses seasonally abundant local flora on his menus. Micheal joined the Rowland’s team in 2015 as Executive Chef.
