
Resort Fitness ClassesWestglow offers a variety of fitness classes, which are included with all resort packages. With the exception of Sunrise/Sunset Cardio, Hiking and Trail Running, all fitness classes are held at the Life Enrichment Center. Please see our Activity Schedule for available class dates and times. All classes are appropriate for most fitness levels. Beginners are welcome, but it is important to work at your own pace. The following classes are available: Aquacise (Low-Impact Cardio)This full-body workout incorporates low-impact dance moves and resistance exercises to tone and firm the body in an aquatic environment. All levels. Cycle (Low-Impact with High and Low-Intensity Cardio)This cardio class uses high and low intensity aerobic intervals on a stationary bike. Each participant controls personal resistance and speed, making this class a great workout for any fitness level. Cycle & Sculpt (Low-Impact with High and Low-Intensity Cardio) Fitball (Non-Impact, Non-Cardio)Build strength and tone muscle groups with the use of a balance ball. Various exercises using hand weights are also included. All levels. Glow YogaThis high-intensity yoga class uses a heated room. The heat encourages greater flexibility, relaxation and release of toxins. This class is ninety minutes and is for all fitness levels. Hike (Low-Impact Cardio)A three- to six-mile fitness walk on scenic local trails. All fitness levels are welcome. Intermediate YogaThe next step after beginning yoga, this class includes more challenging postures. Practicing yoga is a wonderful way to increase flexibility, strengthen and tone muscles, reduce stress and still the mind. Mat Pilates (Non-Impact, Non-Cardio)A challenging class utilizing the principles of Joseph Pilates, this class features exercises focused on strengthening the core as well as toning, sculpting, and increasing flexibility. All levels. Pilates Plus (Non-Impact, Non-Cardio)Enjoy Mat Pilates with an added challenge. This class incorporates weights, bands and magic circles into the principles originated by Joseph Pilates. All levels. StepA perfect combination of cardio and weight training, this high intensity class for all levels benefits your cardio by engaging in choreographed movement using a step. Dumbbells and bands are used for toning and sculpting. Stretch, Tone & Balance (Non-Impact, Non-Cardio)This class is designed to improve overall strength, balance, and flexibility by working and stretching each muscle group. The class concludes with intense abdominal work and total body stretching. All levels. Sunrise/Sunset Cardio (High-Impact with High and Low-Intensity Cardio)Challenge your body and invigorate your spirit with this outdoor circuit class. Intermediate level. Offered seasonally. Yoga (Non-Impact, Non-Cardio)Hatha yoga incorporates flowing movements and stationary postures to tone and strengthen the body. Exercises focus on breathing technique, stress reduction, and relaxation. Intermediate level. Yoga-StretchIncrease your flexibility while relaxing the muscles and the mind with this beginning yoga class combined with basic stretches. Trail RunThis guided trail run or endurance walk uses the back country trails of Grandfather Mountain, which includes sections of the Moses Cone Trail system. Other nearby trails may also be explored as we challenge the muscles and the mind while interacting with nature. Offered seasonally. |
