History
“Westglow” was named by artist and writer Elliott Daingerfield, who built the stately manor house as a summer home in 1917. Daingerfield called his estate Westglow because “the sunsets are always glowing, never glaring” as evening settles over the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the Westglow Mansion features elegantly decorated guest rooms, a formal dining room, a library, and a parlor with a Steinway baby grand piano and a stunning view of the mountains. Numerous original Daingerfield paintings are on display in the Mansion for visitors to enjoy.

The 20 acre estate of Westglow Resort & Spa is a haven for the mind, body and spirit with luxury resort amenities and lavish accommodations. The historic Westglow Mansion houses six elegantly-appointed guest rooms as well as Rowland’s Restaurant, one of the premier fine dining establishments in the Blowing Rock area. More secluded overnight accommodations are available at the Cedar Lodge, a rustic triplex located across the street from the main property. Cedar Lodge suites have private decks, deep-well Jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces. Our state-of-the-art Life Enrichment Center offers the latest in fitness equipment and health and wellness spa facilities as well as a full-service salon. Other recreational amenities include a tennis court on site and nearby walking and hiking trails.
